Hockey World Cup mascot ‘Olly’ to be unveiled at Puri beach tomorrow
Bhubaneswar: The Sports and Youth Services Department of the Odisha Government will host an event at Puri Sea Beach to signify the launch of the official mascot of Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018, Olly, on Tuesday.
Olly would grace all with his vibrant presence by surprising the ardent hockey lovers of Odisha with a show of skills hereby unmatched by any other mascot. After his grand launch event, he would be involved in a photo shoot with all his fans on the beautiful sandy coastlines of Puri.
The mascot would address the media later, promoting the beautiful sport of hockey while raising awareness about conservation of his Olive Ridley turtle brethren.
“We are glad that Olly is coming tomorrow to welcome all Odias and other hockey lovers to the World Cup in November. Olly has a few plans to surprise us. We hope to see a large turnout tomorrow at Puri Sea Beach to welcome him,” said Vishal Dev, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Department.
Olly personifies the spirit of sportsmanship and marries it with an urgent message for conservation of our natural habitat. He encourages us all to imbibe the principles of fairness and competition that sport teaches us while at the same striving to make conscious and coordinated efforts to help save the diverse habitats of his fellow brethren at the oceans.
