Sonepur: Several areas across Sonepur district has been inundated with floodwater following incessant rain in the district last night.
According to the latest reports, floodwater is flowing in the blocks of Birmaharajpur, and Ulunda. Besides, Birmaharajpur’s Mursundi bridge is inundated with over 3-feet of floodwater.
Several acres of lands in Phuleswar and Krushnapalli village is also submerged in knee-deep water. Similarly, the road connectivity between Birmaharajpur and Redhakhol has also been snapped.
On the other hand, at least 3-feet of floodwater is reportedly following in Raksa Canal in Paikabahala village.
Reportedly, the State weather department has also predicted heavy rainfall and issued an orange alert for several districts in next two days in view of Low Pressure over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha and West Bengal.
Besides, the administrations of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Puri and Ganjam districts have been alerted to stay prepared for heavy to very heavy rainfall activity.
Heavy rainfall for isolated places over the districts of Nayagarh, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Bargarh and Cuttack for today has also been predicted.
