Hearing of murder cases against Gurmeet Singh to continue next week
Panchkula: The hearing of the two murder cases against Gurmeet Singh and others will be continued next week, as per court sources.
The hearing of the Ranjit Singh murder case will take place on September 18 (Monday) while journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati murder case will be held on September 22, Gurmeet Singh’s lawyer S K Garg said.
“Today, CBI argued on statements of 31 witnesses out of total 60 in Ranjit murder case. The arguments will continue on Monday as well. As of the Ram Chander Chhatrapati case, final arguments will commence on September 22,” Garg added.
Singh is in Rohtak District jail and appeared by video conference for the proceedings at the special CBI court which began in Panchkula today.
Meanwhile, a former driver of Gurmeet Singh named Khatta Singh wants to testify against him in the murder cases said he had earlier been coerced to change his testimony in Singh’s favour.
The driver Khatta Singh had initially testified against Singh in 2007 but changed his version in 2012. He now says he was under pressure from “baba and his goons”.
Khatta Singh claimed he was living in the Dera when the crimes were committed and had “personal knowledge” about the circumstances of the murders.
