Headmaster thrashes three girl students for not sweeping floors


Kandhamal: Tension erupted in Mahasingi Nodal Upper Primary School in Kandhamal district, after the headmaster of the school allegedly thrashed three girl students mercilessly for refusing to sweep floors of the school.

The accused headmaster was identified as Harishchandra Sahoo.

According to sources, the headmaster directed three girl students identified as Shradhanjali Dalei, Rachana Pradhani and another class 8 student refused to sweep the school floor this morning.However the girls refused to do the work.

Fumed over the refusal of his orders, the headmaster thrashed the girls mercilessly with a stick as results which they collapsed on the floor.

The victims were immediately rushed to the Baliguda Sub Divisional Hospital in critical condition. The conditions of the injured girls are stated to be stable now, said a source.

Later, the parents of the injured girls demanded the Block Education Officer (BEO) for the immediate transfer of the accused headmaster for such cruel act. The parents have also claimed that the headmaster was found involved in similar kind of incidents earlier.

“We have taken the incident with a serious note and a probe has been ordered into it. The accused would not be spared if the allegations levelled against him come out to be true,” said BEO Pramod Kumar Mallick.
