Bolangir: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested the Head Clerk of Gudbhela Block Education Office in Bolangir district for allegedly accepting Rs 5,000 bribe from a retired teacher.
The accused has been identified as Daman Prasad Mishra. He was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe in his office chamber.
According to reports, Mishra had demanded the bribe from one Hadu Bhoi, a retired teacher & a resident of Salepali village in this district.
Bhoi had applied for his revised pension and the accused had demanded gratification to forward the pension papers to A.G.Odisha, Bhubaneswar for approval.
With no option left, Bhoi reported the matter to the Vigilance department.
Acting on the complaint, the Vigilance officials today laid a trap and caught the accused head clerk red-handed while he was accepting the bribe amount of Rs 5,000 from the complainant.
A case has been registered against the accused Head clerk and he is being forwarded to the Court under relevant Sections of the IPC, the Vigilance said adding that search is being conducted at his residence at Patharateka village in Sonepur district.
