GST would make India achieve economic integration: Finance Minister
Bhubaneswar: Finance Minister Shashi Bhusan Behera, inaugurating an outreach programme on Goods and Services Tax (GST) here on Friday said with implementation of GST, India would achieve an economic integration. The GST system seeks to put in place a simpler, technology-driven tax regime which facilitates ease of compliance for the trade and industry and would also help in augmenting Government’s revenue.
Union Finance Ministry Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia urged upon the stakeholders to cooperate for the success of the regime, clarifying various doubts and questions raised by representatives in his address.
Finance Secretary Tuhin Kant Pandey assured constructive support of the State for roll out of GST in the country and at the same time hoped that it will contribute to the growth of the State and national economy.
Chief Commissioner Rakesh Sharma informed that there has been 105 per cent increase in tax collection in Bhubaneswar Zone during 2016-17. Commercial Tax Commissioner Saswat Mishra Tax offered a vote of thanks.
