Bhubaneswar : Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi in a review meeting held here at Secretariat on Friday said that the state government will provide helicopters, Vehicles and all security covers to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for transporting currency notes to the remote areas of the state which are facing problems following the demonetization of high value notes. Moreover, the government would also provide fuel support.
He said, the demonetization effect in the state is now under control. Out of around 4462 unbanked Gram Panchayats in the state, more than 50 percent panchayats have been extended with the mobile banking services specially through cash dispersion by banking correspondents. Meanwhile, 124 petrol pumps in the state have started disbursing cash and new currency notes of Rs 500 are made available in all the ATMs. As on Friday, old currency notes of around Rs 9000 crores have been exchanged in the state.
However, with the need of more supply of new currency notes, the government has urged the RBI to provide the currencies to the places of the state in demand.The Post Master General, Bhubaneswar Circle present during the meeting said that the post offices should be supplied with more new currency notes to meet the demand at various areas.
