Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday said it had set up Cow Protection Committees in all districts of the state to ensure that cow sheds (gaushalas) run efficiently.
Speaking to media persons, Rajeev Gupta, chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Gau Sewa Aayog, a committee established for the preservation and welfare of cows, said that the “Gau Sanrakshan Samitis” will be headed by the district magistrate and will also include two additional individuals. “These committees will ensure efficient management and functioning of gaushalas and make them self-sufficient,” Gupta said.
According to the Principal Secretary (Animal Husbandry) Sudhir M Bobde the district magistrate will have the superintendent of police (SP) and the district’s chief development officer as his deputies. “The chief veterinary officer will be its member secretary,” he said.
The committees will sell cow-related products such as soaps, incense sticks, mosquito repellent coils, biogas, compost and phenyl made from cow urine to make them self-reliant, he added.
