Google dedicates special doodle on Children’s Day


New Delhi: Google celebrated Children’s Day on Wednesday and dedicated a special doodle to mark the occasion. The doodle was on space exploration. Children’s Day is being observed throughout the length and breadth of India as a mark of respect to the first Prime Minister of the country Jawaharlal Nehru.

The late Prime Minister born on this day, was extremely affectionate to the children, who called him Chacha Nehru(uncle Nehru). His love for children was widely acclaimed world over. Nehru died on 27 May 1964. The government of India unanimously decided to observe his birthday as Bal Divas or Children’s Day.  This is a special day for children in India as schools, colleges and other educational institutions organize different literary, quiz and drawing competitions to identify young talents. Apart from educational institutions, other organizations also conduct competitions for children on this day.
