Ganja seized from Basta railway station in Balasore, 3 held


Balasore: Excise sleuths on Friday arrested three persons, including a woman on charges of illegally transporting ganja and seized around 50 kg of the contraband from their possession at Basta railway station in Balasore district.

The accused have been identified as Barendra Patra, Dipak kumar Das and Rasmita Das of Basta area who are currently staying in West Bengal.

The contraband was seized when it was being transported from Odisha’s Rupsa to neighbouring West Bengal on Puri – Howrah Jagannath Express train, an Excise official said.

A case has been registered under NDPS Act in this connection and the arrested person will be produced in the court today, the official added.
