Gangster Tito shifted to Jharpara Jail in Bhubaneswar
Kendrapara: Notorious gangster Tito alias Sayed Usman Ali was on Friday shifted from Kendrapara Sub-Jail to Jharpara Jail in Bhubaneswar.
On being asked, STF SP Prashant Bhoi said that earlier they had written a letter to the Kendrapara Jail authorities to shift the arrested gangster from the jail.
“As the Kendrapara is going to polls in the fourth phase elections in Odisha scheduled to held on April 29, it is suspected that the arrested gangster might cause disturbance and influence witnesses of the criminal cases registered against him,” Bhoi said.
Reportedly, Tito was produced before the Bhubaneswar Court and sent to the Jharpara Jail. Meanwhile, security has been tightened in the jail premises.
The dreaded criminal, who had managed to give the police a slip for years, was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) of the State Crime Branch following an encounter at Chandikhole area in Jajpur district on June 30, 2018.
Later, the CB produced him before the Kendrapara SDJM court and took him on 12 days remand in three phases. During questioning, the STF has elicited vital information about the criminal empire of the gangster and his unaccounted properties.
The STF also issued notices to many persons for their alleged links with the notorious gangster. Besides, STF officials had also interrogated Tito’s wife Benazir Bibi, at her residence at Dilarpur, for one and a half hour over possession of firms, petrol pumps and a luxurious car.
