Four killed, several injured in separate road mishaps across Odisha
Kendrapara/Nayagarh/Jagatsinghpur: Separate road mishaps across the state claimed the lives of at least four persons and injured several others on Monday.
In Kendrapara district, three persons were killed while six others were injured after an SUV collided with a truck near Katia square on Cuttack-Chandbali road due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.
Sources said while three persons died on the spot due to the severe impact of the collision, six others were rushed to Nischintakoili Primary Health Centre (PHC). Later, they were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital as their health condition deteriorated.
In another incident in Nayagarh, three persons sustained critical injuries after an ambulance collided with a truck near Daspalla Dam Chhak. The mishap occurred when the emergency vehicle was on its way to pick up a patient from Rangamatia.
Reportedly, the injured persons have been admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
Similarly, in another mishap in Jagatsinghpur district, one person was killed while two others sustained grievous injuries after the two-wheeler they were travelling in rammed into a tree near Rahadinga square on Jeypore road.
While one person died on the spot in the mishap, the injured persons were admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in a critical condition.
Palpable tension prevailed in the area as locals staged a road blockade demanding compensation for the kin of the deceased.
