Four held for shooting youth in Balasore over past enmity


Balasore: Four persons were arrested by Industrial Area police in connection with shooting a youth near Remuna Medical College Square in Balasore district on September 14 night over past enmity.

The accused persons have been identified as SK Isak Ali, Sidhartha Sankar Bag, Rajendra Pradhan and Sarbeswar Mallik. All accused persons are residents of Balasore district.

According to a complaint lodged by one Ragunath Sahu, his brother, Sambhab Kumar Sahu was sitting near Remuna Medical College Square along with his friends on September 14. By that time five persons came in two bikes and hurled abusive words on Sambhab. Meanwhile, one of them opened fire at him as a result wich Sambahb sustained a bullet injury on his right elbow. The culprits fled from the spot soon after the incident.

The victim was initially rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Balasore and later shifted to SCBMCH in Cuttack as his health condition deteriorated, it was learned.

During the investigation, police found that Sambhab had a dispute with one of the accused SK Isak Ali. Following which, the latter organised a team accordingly and procured firearm to eliminate Sambhab.

After an investigation, police today apprehended SK Ali and his other three aides. Five mobile phones, three motorcycles, one country-made pistol, two sharp weapons from their possessions.

A case (107/19) has been registered against the accused persons under Sections 294, 506, 307, 34 of the IPC & 25, 27 of the Arms Act. Efforts are underway to nab others involved in the case, the police said.
