New Delhi: Former Union minister Arun Jaitley, who passed away on Saturday afternoon after a prolonged illness, will be cremated at the Nigambodh Ghat in New Delhi on Sunday.
The veteran BJP leader’s mortal remains will be moved from the Jaitley residence to the party office at 10 am and will be kept there till around 2 pm for party workers and mourners to pay their respects.
Prime minister Narendra Modi, who is in the UAE on an official tour, said that he has lost a valued friend, whom he had known for decades.
Rajnath Singh paid the last respects to Jaitley and consoled his family on behalf of PM Modi on Saturday. Arun Jaitley will be cremated on Sunday afternoon.
Former finance minister Arun Jaitley, a key strategist and chief troubleshooter of the BJP and the Narendra Modi government during its first term, died on Saturday at the AIIMS here after battling multiple health issues for the last several months.
Jaitley, 66, breathed his last at 12.07pm on Saturday. He was admitted to the hospital on August 9.
