Former Athamallik CDPO awarded 3-year jail term
Cuttack: Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack on Monday awarded three-year rigorous imprisonment to Swarnalata Mohapatra, Ex-Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Athamallik in Angul district hearing a disproportionate assets case.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on her. In default, she has to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of six months, the court mentioned in its order.
According to source, Mohapatra, at present Programming Officer at Jagatsinghpur Collectorate, was facing trial in the court on charges of collecting huge amount of illegal gratification to provide job to Anganwadi Workers.
She was intercepted by Vigilance while coming in a jeep from Athamallik towards Boinda and Rs 3,14,300 was seized from her possession.
Hearing the case the court yesterday convicted Mohapatra and sentenced her to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and imposed a fine of Rs.50,000. In default, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of six months for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
