Flyover collapse: OHRC seeks report from Odisha govt


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) today issued a notice to the state government to submit a report to it on the tragic Bomikhal flyover collapse mishap that killed one person and injured 12 others on Sunday within 15 days.

The OHRC has asked Works Department Secretary and Police Commissioner to probe the matter and submit the report within the stipulated time.

Notably, a case has been registered under Sections 304, 337, 338 and 34 of IPC at Laxmi Sagar police station against Praharaj, Assistant Engineer of the department Kishore Rout along with three members of the Board of Directors of Panda Infra – Sujata Panda, Pratap Panda and Santosh Panda.

While Deputy Executive Engineer of Works Department Bansidhar Praharaj was arrested earlier today, Pratap Panda, chief of Panda Infra, the company that had undertaken the construction work of the collapsed flyover this afternoon surrendered before Commissionerate Police and was arrested later.
