Flood alert: Collectors, health officers asked to stay prepared


Bhubaneswar: Health and Family Welfare Secretary Pramod Kumar Meherda on Friday directed the collectors of all district and CDMPHOs to stay alert to a possible flood situation followed by heavy stormy rainfall in the state from 20-22 July.

In a letter, the health secretary has directed the field functionaries to take stock of emergency supplies such as bleaching powder, saline, antibiotics, halogen tabs available within the vulnerable areas.

Besides the public health officers have been asked to shift all pregnant women in remote areas to the nearest Maternity Waiting Homes within the next 15 days

The nodal health officers are also directed to stay vigilant and monitor round-the-clock operation in the control rooms effective from Saturday morning.
