Five wagons of goods train roll down sans engine in Balasore


Balasore: A few days after 22 coaches of Ahmedabad-Puri Express rolled down from Titlagarh in Bolangir district to Kesinga in Kalahandi district, covering a distance of 12 km sans engine, a similar incident was reported from Soro in Balasore district late yesterday.

According to reports, five wagons of a goods train rolled down for two km after getting detached from the engine. The train with 60 wagons was heading towards Tata from Dhamra port station in Bhadrak.

Sources said five wagons along with the railway guard cabin detached from the moving train between Bahanaga and Panapana railway stations late on Saturday and covered a distance of 2 km without the notice of driver and guard.

After spotting it, the driver stopped the train at Khantapada railway station.

On getting information, a railway engine from Bahanaga railway station was sent to bring back the five detached wagons to Khantapada railway station.

Meanwhile, Station Manager of Khantapada railway station informed the authorities of South Eastern Railway and requested for a probe into the incident.
