Five lynched on suspicion of being child lifters in Maharashtra


Maharashtra: At least five persons were beaten to death by villagers in Maharashtra’s Dhule district on Sunday afternoon on the suspicion of being child lifters.

According to police, the incident took place at Rainpada village in Sakri tehsil of Dhule district. The lynching of the five people has sent a shockwave across the region.

While one of the victims has been identified as Dadarav Bhosale from Solapur district, the identity of the others is still being ascertained.

The police have detained 15 villagers who were part of the mob that lynched the victims after suspecting them child lifters.

The mob even attacked a police team which arrived at the spot to pacify it. Two policemen were injured in an attempt to quell the restive crowd.
