Five killed, several hurt in three separate road mishaps in Odisha
Cuttack/Jajpur/Dhenkanal: At least five persons were killed and several others sustained injuries in three separate road mishaps in the districts of Cuttack, Jajpur, and Dhenkanal on Tuesday.
The first accident took place in Cuttack, where a container truck collided with an iron-laden trawler on the National Highway-16 near Bainchua village, killing the driver and helper of the truck.
On being informed, fire service personnel and police recovered the bodies from the mangled vehicle. The bodies have been sent for postmortem.
In another road mishap, one person was killed while 13 others injured after a tourist bus, they were travelling in, rammed into a goods-laden truck from the rear on National Highway-16 near Jarka in Jajpur district.
As per sources, the incident occurred at around 5 am following which the helper of the bus fell off the vehicle and died on the spot. Later, cops reached the spot and rushed the injured persons to Dharmasala hospital.
In the third accident, two persons were killed while one other sustained grievous injuries after a tanker collided head-on with a truck on NH-55 near Baladiabandh square in Dhenkanal district.
While drivers of both the vehicles died on the spot, the helper was critically injured and admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
