New Delhi:Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Friday advised the Pakistan government to take the first step towards ceasefire.
He said militant encounters in Jammu and Kashmir and cross-border terrorism along the Line of Control has increased.
The army chief told media that Pakistan is an Islamic State.
Pakistan must be willingly to become a secular country like ours. They must develop themselves as a secular State, the General said.
Rawat said earlier promises by Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on fighting terror have fallen flat. Sincere endeavours are not being made from across the border for dealing terrorism.
Pointing out to the remark of Pakistani prime minister, Rawat said there is a contradiction in his statement.
Let them take forward their first step towards the materialisation of the issue, Rawat said and added that their one step should reflect on the ground positively.
