Farmer commits suicide over ‘loan burden’ in Jajpur village
Jajpur: A farmer allegedly committed suicide over loan burden at Digambarpur village under Dharmasala police limits in Jajpur police limits on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as Sisir Khatua (38).
According to the deceased’s family, Khatua had taken loan from private money lenders for farming on 4/5 acres of land. But, as he was unable to repay the loan amount due to financial crisis he decided to take the extreme step.
When everybody else was sleeping at night Khatua went out of the room and locked it from outside. He then went into the nearby asbestos room and hanged himself with a rope, the family said.
Sources said, when the family members woke up in the morning and shouted for help after finding the door locked some neighbours opened it.
Later, Khatua was found hanging in the nearby room and was rushed to the Dharmasala hospital but he was declared brought dead.
On being informed, police reached the hospital and sent the body for post-mortem.
