Fake currency racket at Salia Sahi: City cops to probe the case


Bhubaneswar: After the Mayurbhanj police on Wednesday seized some fake currency printing materials at the Salia Sahi slum under the Nayapalii police station here, the Commissionerate police have formed a team under the supervision of an ACP-rank official to investigate the racket and its links.

Twin City Commissioner of Police YB Khurnia said the team led by an ACP would probe all the angles and if required visit Kolkota and Bangladesh to trace the links.

It may recalled here that 20-year-old Shagen Tudu was arrested from Baripada on March 9 while he was transacting a fake Rs 500 note at a shop in Sunagadia area.

During interrogation, Shagen had told police that he had got the notes from a friend residing in Patia area here. On further interrogation, the accused led police to the house at Salia Sahi where the illegal activity was going on.

While the police is claiming that Sagen Tudu, from is the mastermind, his sister claims that one Raja Tudu is the mastermind behind the racket and he used to give the notes to Sagen to circulate it in the market. Meanwhile, Shagen’s sister has blamed two friends of his brother for the incident.

She said that one Raja was supplying brown sugar to his brother and for the same reason his brother was dancing to his tunes just because of brown sugar.

However, Raja’s family members are vehemently denying the allegations.
