Fake currency racket busted in Odisha, 5 arrested


Nuapada: Odisha police on Friday busted a major fake currency racket and arrested five persons from Nuapada and Kalahandi districts in this connection with seizure of 112 fake notes of Rs 100 denomination from their possession.

The arrested persons have been identified as Arabinda Dash of Khariar, Bhawani Charan Baag of Temari village, Santosh Saraf of Chidia village, Damodar Chalan and Romeswar Baag of Chalanpada village.

Police busted the racket after it nabbed two persons and seized nearly 45 fake notes of Rs 100 denomination following a raid at Chalanpada under Khariar police limits.

The accused- Damodar Challan and Ramaswar Bag were arrested from the spot. Later, police arrested others based on their information, were operating from Kalahandi district.

Police informed that a computer, five mobiles, CPU, printers, pen drive and other printing materials were seized during the raid on a computer shop at Khariar.
