Fake currency notes seized in Bhubaneswar, Baripada


Bhubaneswar: Odisha police busted two persons for trying to circulate fake currency notes in separate incidents at  Bhubaneswar and Baripada respectively.


The accused identified as Shamim Akhtar (21), a resident of Jharkhand was arrested by Commissionerate police while he was using a fake Rs 2000 note for payment at a shop in Bhubaneswar. Six fake 2000 notes worth Rs 12, 000 have been seized from the accused.

Similarly, in another incident, the accused identified as Sogen Murmu has been caught by Baripada police yesterday with seizure of Rs 16, 000 in denomination of 500 notes.

According to police, Murmu a +2 student of Baripada College was nabbed while trying to exchange the notes in Sunagadia area after a group of locals reported the matter suspecting on genuineness of such notes.  A case has been registered with case number 70/17 in the Baripada Town police station following which the accused was court forwarded.
