New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) on Sunday said that Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and postal ballot papers would carry photograph of all candidates to help voters identify the political leaders.
Announcing the Lok Sabha elections the EC said the provision for printing the candidate photographs will help avoid any confusion which may arise when candidates with similar names contest from the same constituency.
The EC also informed that the photograph will be printed on the EVM ballot units as well as on postal ballot papers. For this purpose, the candidates are required to submit their recent stamp size photograph to the returning officer.
The election will start on April 11 and conclude on May 19.
