EVM Hackathon: Delhi Police to conduct probe into hacker Syed Suja’s allegation


New Delhi: Delhi Police will conduct a probe into hacker Syed Suja who made sensational claims that the  EVMs being used in Indian polls can be tampered.

The Election Commission has filed an FIR in this connection with Delhi police. The case has now been handed over to Delhi Police Special Cell, a report said.

During a Hackathon, Syed Suja, who claimed to have worked with Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL)said the machines were susceptible to tampering. He made serious allegations that the 2014 General Elections were hacked.

He has also claimed that the ECIL team, of which he was a part, were decimated, following which he decided to leave the country.

His statement has created a massive political storm in India. Congress leader Kapil Sibal, who was present for the event, had also demanded that his allegations should be probed.

The claims were also refuted by Election Commission.

The ECIL too, has clarified that Suja had never worked with the company or the EVM division of the organisation.
