Muzaffarpur: The death toll due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) that has gripped Muzaffarpur and the adjoining districts in Bihar has risen to 100.
This was informed by Superintendent at Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) Sunil Kumar Shahi on Monday.
According to the doctors, the deaths due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) are being caused due to excessive heat and humidity.
Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan on Sunday visited SKMCH along with Minister of State (Health) Ashwini Choubey to meet the patients and their families. He took stock of the grave situation.
The situation has gone out of control in Bihar due to malnutrition in children that has aggravated the situation. Severe heat, humidity and poor hygiene are also blamed for the escalation.
