Elaborate security in Silver city for hassle-free Durga Puja
Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police have made elaborate security arrangement for smooth conduct of Durga Puja in the Silver city. A decision regarding this was taken in a meeting presided by Police Commissioner on Sunday.
In a statement to the media, Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty said, “A total of 40 platoons of police will be deployed at puja mandaps and sensitive locations. Besides, 300 police officers, 50 DSPs and Additional DCP will monitor security arrangements while Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Striking Force and the Quick Action Team (QAT) personnel will be on standby.”
In order to keep a tab on anti-social activities, plain-clothed policemen will be deployed along the busy roads and near the puja mandaps, Mohanty added.
Moreover, the office-bearers of the Puja Committees have informed that they will engage 800 volunteers who will work in coordination with the police during the festival,” Mohanty said and added that to regulate traffic congestion, new traffic advisory will be issued from October 15.
