Bhubaneswar: Enforcement Directorate (ED) Regional Special Director of eastern region Yogesh Gupta on Friday reviewed the progress of the probe cases of some high-profile money laundering and suspicious money transactions, including those related to the chit fund scams, self-styled godmen and mafia dons like Sushant Dhalsamant and Sushil Dhalsamant.
As per official sources, Gupta was here at ED wing of Odisha from 11 am till 3 pm. Gupta laid emphasis on expediting the process in all the cases under the ED scanner in the State.
Special emphasis was given on finishing up soon the money trail investigations relating to the amassing of huge amounts of ill-gotten wealth by self-proclaimed godmen Sarathi and Sura Baba and gangsters Sushil and Sushant Dhalsamant, having earned a dubious distinction as D-brothers.
All of the accused are placed at different jails.
Sarathi Baba, rich owner of Barimula Ashram in Kendrapada, and Sura Baba, owner of sprawling and highly sophisticated Trahi Achyut Ashram on the outskirts of the capital city here, have been arrested and are in Choudwar Circle Jail and Jharpada Special Jail respectively since 2015 September.
The D-brothers have been arrested and are placed in two separate jails in the state since 2016.
For the last few days, the D-brothers and their arrested accomplices are being grilled by the ED sleuths either in the respective jails or via video conference.
