Bhubaneswar: Independent MLA from Champua in Keonjhar district, Sanatan Mahakud was on Thursday grilled by the officials of Enforcement Directorate (ED) here for about seven hours in connection with the mining scam.
Sources said the ED officials questioned Mahakud about mines transports and his business transactions with mine owners who are named in the Shah Commission report on the mining scam.
Mahakud, one of the richest MLA in Odisha, owns two transport companies in Barbil and Keonjhar. The ED summoned Mahakud suspecting his involvement in the mining scam after learning that mines were transported through the vehicles of his transport companies.
After coming out of the ED office in Bhubaneswar, Mahakud denied of any kind of interrogation by the officials. “I furnished relevant documents about my business transactions before the officials. I am not involved in any kind of corruption. I am not guilty,” he said.
