ED attaches self-styled godman Sura Baba’s properties worth Rs 15 cr


Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, Enforcement Directorate (ED) today attached moveable and immoveable properties worth Rs 15 crore of another self-proclaimed godman Sura Baba alias Surendranath Mishra just 2 days after the central agency attached properties of Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Raul.

The ED confiscated properties belonging to Sura Baba and his two sons which include Trahi Achyuta Ashram, his house and lands at Jhinti Sasan and deposits in various bank accounts.

Reportedly, the ashram of the self-styled godman, his house and land have been valued at around Rs 12.60 crore while another Rs 2.35 crore was added to the valued amount as the trio had held in their bank  deposits.

The properties were attached under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). However, Sura Baba and his two sons were earlier grilled by the ED sleuths.

The trio was arrested by Balipatna police on August 311 2015 with charges under section 341, 342, 323, 294, 506 and 34 of IPC and section 3(I)(x) of the SC and ST Act.
