New Delhi:Election Commission (EC) on Sunday hit back at Trinamool Congress chief saying it “acted well within rules” on transfer of police officials of the state.
The poll panel’s response comes a day after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee slammed the Election Commission for “acting” at the behest of the BJP.
The TMC supremo in her letter said the decision of the Commission is highly arbitrary, motivated and biased. She said the Commission has acted at the behest of the ruling party at the Centre.
Meanwhile, Modi reacted to allegation during a rally in Cooch Behar that the more you chant ‘Modi Modi’, the more someone loses her sleep.
In the order dated April 5, the poll body also named Avannu Ravindranath, the deputy commissioner (Airport Division) of Bidhannagar, as the new Birbhum superintendent of police.
Srihari Pandey, deputy commissioner of Kolkata Armed Police, 3rd Battalion, was made the Diamond Harbour police superintendent.
The poll panel has asked the state secretary to implement the order in 24 hours and said the transferred police officials shall not be allocated any election-related duties.
