Puri: Days after a video of drunken dance by students allegedly from Puri Samanta Chandra Sekhara (SCS) College went viral, the district Collector has ordered a probe into the matter.
Expressing serious concern over the issue the Puri Collector Jyotiprakash Das held discussions with the principal of SCS College, Prafulla Mohanty in this regard.
According to reports, the district Collector has asked the college authorities to find out whether any faculty member was present during the incident, which is said to have taken place during Saraswati Puja celebrations on February 10.
When asked, Das said, “Educational institutions are like temples and no one has the right to hamper the sanctity. The college authorities have been asked to take all possible steps to check any such incidents in future.”
In the meanwhile, SCS College principal also said that a committee has been constituted to probe the alleged incident. Mohanty said, “Appropriate action will be taken after the committee submits the probe report.”
It is worth mentioning here that, a video of a group of students allegedly dancing under the influence of alcohol on the college campus went viral on social media.
In the video, both boy and girl students were purportedly seen dancing to popular Bollywood tunes and drinking beer while other students watching it from the college building.
After the video went viral, it had become the talk of the town. The incident had also drawn flak from several quarters with intellectuals condemning the act of the students.
