Bhubaneswar: In the wake of alleged sexual assault of inmates at a shelter home in Dhenkanal, director general of police (DGP) RP Sharma on Monday sought details from superintendents of police (SPs) about shelter homes running in their respective districts.
In a letter to the SPs, Sharma directed them to submit details on the number of registered and unregistered shelter homes running in each district. The DGP also sought details on whether any illegal activity is being carried out in these shelter homes.
Three employees of Dream Centre Shelter Home, run by NGO Good News India, have been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of minor girls at the shelter home.
Today, a special POCSO court allowed the Dhenkanal police to take Fayaz Rehman, the director of the Dream Centre Shelter Home, on two days’ remand beginning from tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the BJP Mahila Morcha today brought allegations of religious conversion against the Good News India NGO which runs the Dream Centre Shelter Home.
