Dera chief Ram Rahim found guilty for murder of a journalist

Panchkula: Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was found guilty for murder of journalist Ram Chander Chattrapat.

A special CBI court on Friday announced its verdict in the case. The sect chief was named as the prime accused in the case.

Ram Rahim was present when the sentence was delivered via video-conferencing from the Sunaria jail.

The sect chief  is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence in Sunaria Jail in Haryana.

The quantum of punishment will be announced on January 17.

Dera carpenters Nirmal Singh and Kuldeep Singh who shot Chhatrapati are convicted along with Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and Krishan Lal who owned the gun.

Chhatrapati, the editor of a regional evening daily ‘Poora Such’ was shot dead at point-blank range on October 24, 2002 right outside his home in Sirsa, Haryana.
