Dengue outbreak in Kalahandi: 44 tested positive


Kalahandi: With the rise in number of dengue cases, the locality of Ladugaon village in Kalahandi district is now shadowed with fear. The hike in the number of mosquito-borne disease has turned the situation into an epidemic.

Dr. Saroj Kumar Tihadi, CDMO of  Kalahandi district, informed that out of the 218 blood samples tested, 44 have been identified positive and the number is likely to increase further.

Locals claimed that the water-logging due to the rice mills near the village has turned mosquito breeding ground.

The officials are visiting door-to-door in order to sensitise people about dengue and the importance of a clean surrounding. A team of medical officials have camped since the last three days . Anti-larvicides are being sprayed in order  to control the dengue situation.

The Sub Collector of  Kalahandi visited Ladugaon on Sunday  to take stock of the situation.
