Rourkela: “Be the history makers by demonstrating your credibility and credentials and make Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) an 8 Million Ton global green steel producer Mr. Dipak Chattaraj, CEO, RSP exhorted the Steel Plant collective in the Mass Contact Exercise held at Gopabandhu Auditorium yesterday (Aug 21).
Highlighting the adverse market scenario where it is difficult to get good NSR, Mr. Chattaraj said that improving the volume of value-added products and reducing the average cost of production are the best ways to face the challenge.
The CEO emphasised on the need to create a mass movement to reduce wastages, ensure optimum utilisation of upgraded facilities, improve techno-economic parameters, enhance housekeeping, maximise output from minimum input, fulfil environment norms, strengthen the safety culture and establish good maintenance practices. Reposing faith in the potential of RSP collective, Mr. Chattaraj exhorted everyone to introspect and leave a legacy.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Banerjee emphasised on the need of not just knowing the safety norms but also implementing them in the truest sense of the term. Referring to the financial status of RSP at the present juncture he urged everyone to work towards increasing the volume of production beyond APP target and reducing the cost of production.
Earlier the Mass Contact began with SAIL Anthem followed by the screening of a number of Audio-visual films on various topics. Presentations were made by Ms. Barkha Sharma, OCT, Power Distribution and Mrs. Kunurani Biswal, OTC, OBBP on different aspects of the functioning of the Plant and Township such as Safety, plan for Turnaround and Transformation Strategy, Production Target, Awards, township intervention and status of Employees’ suggestion.
Later, during the interaction session, employees gave suggestions pertaining to production, productivity, maintenance and safety issues. Ms. Samita Mishra, Senior Instructor, HRD anchored the session, which ended with ‘Sankalp’, a pledge taking ceremony.
