Delhi court orders framing molestation charges against ex-TERI Chief
New Delhi: Delhi’s Saket court here on Friday has ordered framing of molestation charges against former Chief of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) RK Pachauri, in the sexual harassment case filed by his ex-colleague. The next hearing of the case has been posted to October 20.
Metropolitan Magistrate Charu Gupta ordered the framing of charges under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The court has discharged him of certain other Sections and said it would formally frame the charges on October 20.
According to reports, an FIR was lodged against RK Pachauri by his ex-colleague on February 13, 2015. In the complaint, the victim has levelled sexual harassment allegations on the environmentalist.
Based on the FIR, Delhi police on March 1, 2016, had filed a 1,400-page charge-sheet against the Pachauri saying there was “sufficient evidence” against him that he had sexually harassed, stalked and threatened the complainant.
However, he was granted anticipatory bail in the case on March 21.
