Five crore defamation case against Dharitri editor, publisher and scribe


Bhubaneswar: A defamation case of Rs 5 crore has been filed against the editor, publisher, CEO and a scribe of Odia daily Dharitri on Tuesday. Family members of an official of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) have filed the lawsuit against the newspaper authorities and reporter for allegedly publishing misinformation.

The CMO official alleged that the secretariat reporter Anil Das of the daily published from Bhubaneswar had presented misinformation and distorted facts for his selfish interests in the Odia newspaper few days ago. “The news report was written irresponsibly and had facts distorted to suit the interests of the reporter. The article stained the image of our family members. Our family has taken the legal route to contest the article,” said a family member of the CMO official.

The Court of senior civil judge, Bhubaneswar has accepted the defamation case.
