Cuttack group clash: Police conducts flag march, arrests over 50 persons
Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police has arrested over 50 people for inciting a group clash following which 15 persons sustained injuries and seven vehicles damaged here. The police personnel also conducted a flag march to restore normalcy after the clash between residents of Naik Sahi and Sarvodayapur earlier in the day.
Reportedly, some local youths allegedly eve teased a girl near Khannagar today. Fumed over the incident residents of Naik Sahi and Savodayapur took to the streets later and an altercation sparked between the two groups following which they clashed damaging seven vehicles and injuring over 15 people.
The attackers didn’t even stop after the arrival of Badambadi and Purighat police. While the police was trying to bring back the situation under control, the attackers even pelted bottles at the police personnel.
At least seven policemen, including Badambadi IIC Biranchi Pati and Purighat IIC Tapas Pradhan, sustained injuries in the attack. Police later arrested 52 persons from both the sides in a bid to check the violence.
