Rayagada: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) engaged in combating the Maoist menace launched a civic action programme in several villages of Rayagada district on Thursday.

The civil action programme aims to reach out to the people to fight left-wing extremisms and bridge the gap between the common man and the security forces.

During the programme, blankets were distributed to 145 families in the Maoist-dominated Sanaadaba, Badaadaba and Padalarai villages.

“We have launched the civil action programme to bridge the gap between the villagers and security forces,” said Mittu Roy, a CRPF commandant.

“The cooperation of local residents in publicising the ground-level intelligence on Ultras’ activities is vital for combating insurgency in these inhospitable terrains and hostile environs,” Roy added.

The security forces are establishing a one to one relationship to spread the message of friends-in-need with the jawans, said a CRPF official.
