Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police conducted simultaneous special drives in all the police stations in the twin city for execution of non-bailable warrants and prosecution of habitual offenders.
The special drive was conducted following the instruction of twin city Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty.
According to a press note, day blockings were held in 37 places in the Commissionerate Police area and 5,809 motor vehicle offenders including drunken driving have been booked. Besides, 25 non-bailable warrants were executed and 08 habitual offenders/criminals were booked under Section110 of CrPC.
During the drive 22 excise cases were detected within the Commissionerate Police area and 22 persons have been forwarded to the court. Besides, a fine of Rs 9,80,350- have been collected from motor vehicle offenders along with drunken driving, the press note stated.
Moreover, the police also arrested a gunrunner and seized a country-made pistol with three live ammunition from his possession.
The simultaneous drive was thoroughly monitored by Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty. Such drives will continue in the twin cities of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar in view of the forthcoming Hockey World Cup, 2018, the Commissionerate police said.
