Cops seize Rs 37L from notorious dacoit’s house in Titlagarh
Bolangir: Titlagarh police along with a team of officials raided the house of a notorious dacoit Lokanath Kumbhara at Highschool Pada in Titlagarh town in Bolangir district on Wednesday night and seized around Rs 37 lakh and other valuable assets.
According to police, the accused, Lokanath is involved in three criminal cases registered against him at Titlagarh Police Station (12.1.14) under Sections 394, case no-182 (2.9.16) under Section 394 and case no 232 (17.10.16) under Section 395 of IPC.
Besides, three cases are registered against him at Muhabahal PS this year and one case (45/18) is still pending against him at Sindhekela PS.
Acting on the directives of Titlagarh SDPO Saroj Mohapatra, a police team conducted a raid at Lokanath’s residence late last night and detained his father Nassar Kumbhara as Lokanath had fled before the raid.
During the raid, the cops seized cash to the tune of Rs 37.32 lakh and a huge cache of stolen gold ornaments from his house.
While accused Lokanath is at large, his father is being interrogated at the police station about his son’s whereabouts. A detailed investigation and a search operation to nab Lokanath is on, the Titlagarh police said.
