Congress prepares to contest in all seats for Panchayat polls

Bhubaneswar: Preparing for the coming Panchayat polls the State Congress organised a Sankalp Samavesh at the Congress Bhawan here on Sunday. The Samavesh was organised under the chairmanship of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Prasad Harichandan and attended by various leaders including Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra and Odisha Congress Incharge BK Hariprasad.
Prasad said that the Congress will contest for all 854 Zilla Parishad, all Panchayat Sarpanch, Samiti and Ward member seats. He said that the election will be contested taking in account local problems and the Congress will reach near each and every household. He further said that the party will reach near people not with a promise but with a pledge.
After the Samavesh, a Press Meet was organised by the Congress. In the meet Prasad said that Congress will strengthen its base in 314 blocks and urban areas by formulating a rebuilding plan for the organisation. He informed that the party has formed a task force for 6800 Gram Panchayats, 30 senior leaders have been given the charge of supervising election process in 30 districts. Further 314 observers have been appointed for 314 blocks, added Prasad. He also informed that the party will publish notifications based on local problems of an area.
After the address of Prasad various Congress leaders, representatives of various blocks, gave their opinion of the steps to be taken for the coming elections.
