Cong leader Lulu Mohapatra’s last rites today


Bhubaneswar: The last rites of Odisha Congress strongman and former MLA Lalatendu Bidyadhar (Lulu) Mohapatra will be performed at his native village Gadarodang in Brahmagiri block in Puri district on Tuesday.
The mortal remains of Mohapatra arrived here earlier on Monday evening and was graced out by a sea of crowd.Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, paid last tributes to Mohapatra at his government quarter here. His body was taken in a funeral procession to Congress Bhavan and then to State Assembly earlier today where he was presented guard of honour. Leaders cutting all party lines also paid last tributes to the Mohapatra who was one of the most noted politician and social worker in recent times.Meanwhile, the Congress has declared it would observe three day mourning on the demise of Mohaptra.Lalatendu who was unwell for quite some time was badly suffering from liver cirrhosis and was under treatment at Gurgaon based Medant Hospital for past some weeks. Earlier on Sunday evening his health conditions deteriorated and even with all possible attempts from doctors he died of brain stroke and multiple organ failure.The 52 year old Congress leader a three time consecutive MLA from Brahmagiri constituency was Vice President of OPCC, an all India student union leader and a brave politician throughout his career.
