Commuters suffer as BEST strike enters fourth day in Mumbai

Mumbai: Routine commuters were hit as Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) strike enters day four in Mumbai on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Municipal corporation workers have threatened to join the bandh.

The bus employees’ have demanded implementation of the merger of the BEST budget with the principal budget of the Mumbai Municipal corporation.

Reports said the municipal workers have also supported the strike. While the BEST employees have gone on an indefinite strike, the municipal workers will also be going on strike from Saturday, reports said.

The strike which began on Tuesday has affected commuters as a result of which the Central Railways took on the decision to provide extra sub-services.

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has added 40 more buses to their fleet in the metropolis to avoid any inconvenience for the public.

The BEST is the second largest transport in Mumbai after the Mumbai local.
