Parlakhemundi: Scores of commuters were seen stranded at Parlakhemundi in Gajapati district today as around 80 private buses stayed off the roads due to strike called by the Private Bus Workers’ Association.
The bus operators have called the strike in a protest against the attack on a bus conductor by a bus owner and police inaction.
Sources said, even though the bus conductor had lodged a complaint with the police, no action has been taken in this regard following which the bus workers resorted to launch a strike.
“The association has demanded apology from the accused bus owner and a written statement stating not to repeat such action in future,” said P Krishna, president of Motor Workers’ Association.
He further stated that the protest would continue till their demands are not fulfilled.
