Commissionerate police asks Nigerian tourist to leave India by June 16

Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate police on Wednesday directed Nigerian tourist Godnes Thomson to quit India by June 16, whose visa and passport has become invalid for over six months.

Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahu said that Thomson, the Nigerian national, has been asked to leave India June 16.

According to police, he had lodged a complaint with Kharavel Nagar police about loss of his passport.

However, during interrogation Thomson was repeatedly changing his statements and concealing his identity. Later, it was found that the concerned Nigerian national was staying in violation of the visa norms. Cops came to know that the validity of his visa has already expired six months back, informed Sahu.

Earlier the Nigerian and Indian Embassy officials were informed about the incident and now a ‘leave India’ notice has been served to the Nigerian, he added.
