City boy brings laurel for state in Behtar India campaign

Bhubaneswar: Rishabh Suar, a Class VI student of KiiT International School, has secured the third spot under Behtar India Vatavaran category in the Behtar India campaign.

In the campaign, organised by DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance Co. Ltd, Rishabh earned this distinction by collecting 21,000 kgs of recyclable waste.

Behtar India Campaign Ambassador and actress Parineeti Chopra will award a bronze medal to him at the grand finale of Behtar India, scheduled for February 28 in New Delhi.

Rishabh’s achievement is an inspiring story of a class sixth student who went to great lengths to achieve this milestone. He collected newspapers, notebooks, books and other recyclable material from his school, neighbourhood and KiiT University.

There are some 22 departments in KiiT University and he approached all these departments asking for recyclable waste for contributing to Behtar India. During his art periods in school, he made posters on dengue awareness for sharing with Behtar India.

His passion for collecting recyclable waste often went beyond his school hours. After his classes, he visited his friends’ house asking for recyclable waste. The young lad didn’t even stop on Sundays and went from neighbourhood to neighbourhood asking for recyclable waste and creating awareness on Dengue. During the entire course of the activity, his father and teachers inspired and helped him, making him understand the importance of sustainability and environment protection.
